Fitment is the whole game

Water truck plumbing is not standardized. The same 4,000-gallon tank might have been built by three different shops with three different spray bar layouts, thread types and valve sizes. Before you order anything, get us four things: the truck's year, make and model, the tank size and builder if you know it, the pump make and model off the tag, and a photo of the part you're replacing while it's still on the truck. New, used and take-off parts

Some parts are worth buying new every time — seals, gaskets, nozzles, hose. Others are better bought used: cast pump housings, PTO assemblies, cannon bodies and spray bars hold up fine and cost a fraction of new. We pull good components off units we part out and sell them tested where we can test them. Each listing says whether the part is new, used or a take-off, and what condition it's in. We don't sell a used pump as if it's new.

Availability and how fast you get it

A water truck sitting in the yard is not making money, so speed matters more than anything else on this page. Common items — nozzles, spray heads, valves, fittings, hose — are typically on the shelf. Pumps and PTO assemblies depend on what we have from recent teardowns. Common failures we get called about

Plugged spray heads, almost always from pulling water out of a pit without a strainer. Leaking pump seals after a dry run. PTOs that won't engage because of a worn shift fork or an air line leak. Frozen gate valves that haven't been cycled in a season. Cracked plumbing from a hard freeze on a truck that wasn't drained. Most of these are cheap parts and an afternoon of work — call and describe what it's doing and we'll tell you what we'd check first.
